She is every thing she speaks to me
Contrary being not her loving heart
I cannot understand but yet I do
That lingua franca of her very soul.

Pray my hands softly round her face
Her neck, and ears all slight embrace
My light caress in darkness she lies
Unfearing heaven’s fall, nor hell’s rise.

She needs as I need her this love
As gentle kindles a sermonic place
Parodying heaven in her stare
Eyes near shut in surrender.

She sleeps upon my lap unaware
Of any or all interest but of me.
She wakes only to purr and sleep
Again in this sweet silence we keep.
